Question by : How old are Congo African Greys when they start talking?
I Have a 3 months 2 weeks old Congo African Grey that i bought from a breeder that was Hand-Tamed and Raised. Which i bought like one week ago! He plays with me and I take Him out of the Cage at least 6 hours a day! I’m just wondering how old are Congo African Greys when they start talking?

I have a DNA’d male congo african grey who would rather repeat sounds, songs, and whistles than talk. He very rarely talks/practices talking. He will be a year old in October. I have heard in the past that they typically start playing with speech at 6 months. What I’ve found, through my own experience and the experiences of others is this: it all depends on the individual. Your baby may never talk and then…thirty years later, talks your ear off. Typically, if they’re going to talk- you’ll hear them practicing when no one is around. What you can do: repeat, repeat, repeat. Play music/radio when you’re not around and interact verbally as much as you can with him. Sounds like you’re off to a good start. Good luck to you and your baby grey.
