  • Rogan  says:

i think homoerectus were the first to leave africa. ya it was them

  • BIGgourami  says:

Homo erectus was believed to be the first to leave africa… but Homo sapiens (our own species) continued evolving and eventually migrated out of africa itself

  • kagmi  says:

Homo sapiens, our own species of modern humans, were the ones who originated in Africa and migrated out, giving rise to modern human populations all over the world today. The first Homo sapiens who migrated out of Africa were the same species as modern humans today, not an ancestor species.

However, other human and pre-human species have been found in many regions. It seems that humans and pre-humans migrated out of Africa independently many times. As you probably know, there were Neanderthals in Europe, for example. We did not evolve from Neanderthals, nor did Neanderthals evolve from us. They were a completely different species that came into Europe independently of Homo sapiens.

Here is a helpful chart of human and pre-human species, and where their fossils have been found: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_evolution#Comparative_table_of_Homo_species

    Hope this helps!
