How can I get my tv to recognize all the cable channels?

Question by tennisleto87: How can I get my tv to recognize all the cable channels?
My tv will pick up cable channels 2-53 but not 54-80. I have tried everything I can think if like unplugging the cable and removing all the channels and adding them. I tv also wont even go to the channels I know I should have even when I enter them in. I am at a loss of what to do now besides by a new tv which I can’t afford.

Have it do a channel scan monthly, in settings.

You probably have a TV that only goes to 53. Unless 54 are pay channels that need decoder.

  • Mr. Goodkat  says:

Your TV tuner may not be capable of going higher than channel 53. It is quite common on older TV’s.

You should try going into the Menu settings on your TV,and look for something related to AIR/CABLE. This setting will allow you to select what channels your TV gets, whether it’s Cable (CATV), or Over the Air (AIR). You should make sure that it is selected to CATV1. If this is not successful, then let the TV do an automatic channel search to get the channels.
