Adventures is South Africa- what makes SA so unique

South Africa is a very beautiful country to visit. Not only is it home to wonderful beaches, wildlife, mountains, rivers and an extensive tract of a coastline, it  boasts of richness gained from diamonds and gold trade. The country is also an icon when it comes to the sport of rugby. This article will focus on a representation of some of the best places to visit in order to have the wildest adventures in South Africa.

The table mountain is one of these locations. It is a flat topped mountain adjacent to Cape Town. It holds a key attraction to majority of tourists who come visiting Cape Town. As a matter of fact, Table Mountain is home to hyrax rock. This rock is formed like a mix of a mouse and a squirrel. Table Mountain is also endowed with countless species of flora and fauna, a factor which makes it an ideal destination for Africa sporting safaris enthusiasts.

The garden is another fascination that South Africa has to offer. It forms a stretch on the south-eastern coast right from the Mossel bay and ends at Storms River. The journey to this place is also full of memories and excitement.

Durban, South Africa’s third largest city is regarded as the friendliest country in the region. The city is famous because of its beaches which are filled with surfers. As a bonus, the waters here do not harbor sharks meaning that they are much safer. There are a couple of restaurants, pubs and hotels to cater for accommodation and meals.

The Kruger Park, which happens to be Africa’s oldest national park, is also an ideal tourist destination. It is home to a large variety of wildlife and plants. It is vast, so traversing the entire area requires much dedication. Another fantastic destination in South Africa is the Drakensberg Mountains. It is popularly known for hiking; bird and wildlife watching and at times ideal for Africa sport hunting safaris and horse riding. Here, one also gets the opportunity to try out rock climbing, water rafting and biking.

For those who really fancy ostrich riding, Oudtshoorn is worth a stop over while traveling around the country. It is also known as the Ostrich capital. Visitors can choose to ride ostriches or better just sample their eggs.  As a matter of fact, oudtshoorn is just not all about ostriches. It has great scenery which makes it a very popular with cyclists and other people who wish to wind from the hustles and bustles of Cape Town.

South Africa is a very diverse and incredible country with much to offer both the locals and international who visit the country. No matter which location one might want to end at, South Africa is endowed to provide comfort in all its corners.

Unique Weddings in Rhodes, Greece

The island of Rhodes lies in the south-east corner of the Aegean sea, close to the Turkish mainland.

In Greek mythology, the green and lush island of Rhodes, child of the goddess of love, Aphrodite, rose up out of the Aegean Sea as a peace offering to the Greek god of sun, Helios. Helios promptly flooded the island in sunshine and made it the sunniest of the Greek islands.

Throughout time, the island of sun’s strategically important geographical position has made Rhodes particularly attractive to many different people – friends and foe – and many have left their mark on the island in the forms of art, language and architecture. Today’s visitors find Rhodes a sunny, cosmopolitan hub of life offering culture, history, nature and entertainment.

Of particular historical and cultural importance are the medieval city of Rhodes, built by the Knights of St John and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the ancient acropolis of Lindos and the ancient city of Kamiros. For those more interested in nature and its grandeur, a visit to Prasonisi, at the very southern tip of the island, is a must, as is a visit to the Valley of the Butterlies and Seven Springs. On a religious note, orthodox churches and monasteries are copious in number and to be found in even the most remote of areas.

Beaches and bays are in abundance around the coastline of Rhodes: In the Faliraki area the main sandy beach is well organised with good facilities and numerous watersport and mini cruise stations. The nearby bays of Anthony Quinn, Ladiko and Tragunu are smaller, more graphic, less accessible bays hidden from view and favoured by locals. The recently renovated Kallithea Spa, an Italian monument built around the bay of Kallithea, is an area renowned for its excellent snorkelling and scuba diving attributes. Further south, along the east coast of the island, are the bays of Afandou, Colimbia, Tsambika, Stegna and Haraki. The bay of Lindos is known as the ‘jewel of Rhodes’ and is a mecca for all visitors to the island. South of Lindos, beyond Pefkos, the

largest resort hotels can be found; this area is relatively undeveloped and isolated when compared to the north of the island, as is the rugged, windy west coast.

Beyond these natural and historical places of interest Rhodes is home to the biggest water park in Europe, an aquarium, numerous museums, cinemas and excellent designer shopping. Rhodes is also well positioned for day excursions to the other Dodecanese islands such as Symi, Kos, Tilos and to Marmaris, Turkey.

In short, Rhodes is an unbeatable holiday destination – even the most demanding visitor will be impressed!

5 unique and non-clich? dream honeymoon ideas

As a travel writer there’s no way I could just settle for an all-inclusive package to Aruba and I refused to fall into the typical honeymoon destination traps.

So I came up with some great ideas for a non-typical honeymoon destination. Here are some fun – and just as dreamy – alternatives to typical honeymoons: hidden treasures, exotic destinations, little known deserted islands and more!

Retreat to mysterious Marrakech: If you’re looking for an exotic and mysterious location, then Marrakech is your oyster. The Marrakech Medina is the old city where you’ll find endless winding narrow streets, souks or shops selling all kinds of goods, ancient mosques and more. The Djemaa El-Fna is the largest and busiest night market and square in the world, full of snake charmers, music, mischievous monkeys, acrobats, and street food.

Hideout on a deserted island in the Bahamas: If you’re looking for truly deserted islands – and no, Tahiti doesn’t count – then look to the Bahamas. Sure, you’ve heard of Nassau and Paradise Island – but what about Long Island? Eleuthera? Exumas? You don’t want to miss out on the world’s best-kept secret for hidden island getaways and truly secluded beaches.

View all luxury hotels in Barbados

Discover lush paradise in Kauai: Forget Waikiki Beach, Oahu, Maui or Big Island. Known as the Garden Island of Hawaii, Kauai’s landscape alone is worth the visit, not to mention that its Hanalei Bay beach was recently voted the best by Dr. Beach. Lush tropical greenery, waterfalls at every turn, secret swimming holes, mountains that reach the heavens, the most stunning coastline in the world, sandy beaches perfect for surfers and small town friendliness are just a taste of what can be found in Kauai.

Drive through the Austrian countryside: If you’re considering a road trip through southern France, then try Austria for a less typical honeymoon adventure with just as much beauty and culture. Indeed, the hills are alive here and there’s something picturesque, charming, and untouched about so much of Austria’s countryside that can’t be said of France. Visit quaint towns like Hallstatt, set amid snow-capped mountains or Lofer in the Saalach Valley, southern Salzburg.

Go beachside in San Sebastian, Spain: San Sebastian is noted as one of the top undiscovered culinary destinations in the world. It’s a great spot for surfers, Europeans on vacation and food-lovers who flock to dine at Mugaritz and Arzak, two of the top restaurants in the world. Be sure to make time to visit nearby Bilbao for a day at the Guggenheim Museum.

There is no where quite like Marrakech in Morocco. The city is only a few hours away from London by plane, so it’s easy and cheap to catch flights to this unique city. For a luxurious holiday, book a stay at the Atlas Medina & Spa, which is one of the best five star hotels in the city. Here you can enjoy spa treatments in a tranquil setting. New Unique Christmas Music

Each Christmas song is unique in its own way.  It remains in our mind for a long time and we never get bored with it. Maybe because  listening of Christmas music take place only at Christmas time or because has unique blast. Christmas songs are melodic, romantic, creating good mood and a sense of euphoria of pending holiday. Traditional Christmas songs are performed by centuries during the Christmas Ceremony. Also we can listen to Christmas music online from home.

There are also family Christmas songs, which are found popularity in the entire world. Many well-known artists create their own popular Christmas songs, which over the years top music charts. According to rankings, published on internet, ten most popular Christmas songs are as follows:1. All I Want for Christmas is You, Mariah Carey; 2. Driving Home for Christmas, Chris Rea; 3.Last Christmas , George Michael; 4. Please come home for Christmas, Bon Jovi; 5.Happy Christmas, Celine Dion; 6.Merry Christmas Everyone, Shakin’ Stevens; 7.Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Kenny G; 8.Thank God it’s Christmas, Queen; 9.Christmas Time, Christina Aguilera; 10. We wish you A Merry Christmas. Most of these songs stay away from the religion and the  give the very idea of the birth of Jesus Christ. They have modern sounds, which every year becomes more and more bizarre.

Over time the new Christmas music become modern and acquire new sense, a new rhythm and belongs to very different style. For example, has repeatedly posed Heavy Metal Christmas songs. It sounds quite strange but it stands with the new trends of music.

Every Christmas appear songs that are “sung” by pets. People create choirs of cats and dogs, and any other pets able to issue any sound.

For new Christmas season in virtual space was promoted something new. It is a Master of music, who compose new style Christmas songs. This music does not coincide with anybody’s expectations for Christmas music. It is fully alternative, even high-alternative. The promotion is on internet. It also has its own web site, where it can be listened completely free of charge.

What is unique in this music? What makes it strange is that it consists of records of different sounds – creaking, crack with the fingers, playing, shouting crowd of people and so on, which flood in well-known Christmas melodies.

The creator of this type of music made two Christmas albums. The first of them came out for the first time last year, around Christmas. The second album appeared in 2010. The titles of the songs in the albums will be familiar to us, because almost all of them are notable Christmas songs. Behind the titles, however, is hiding a real surprise or even shock.

It is interesting what will be the audience of this kind of bizarre Christmas music and whether it will find fans at all. This is not yet known. Certainly the fans of the traditional Christmas music will not be pleasantly surprised, but I believe that a large part of younger generation would evaluate the new unique Christmas music.

The Master of unique Christmas Music

We all know old Christmas songs, which sound in shopping malls, offices and restaurants each year at Christmas time. Some of them we like, so they assist us to create the Christmas mood even more festive. Others, however sound already irritating for us, and we ask ourselves “When there will be finally something new” This year the answer is “There are something really new in Christmas sounding”. There is xMmus, which will exceed our expectations for Christmas sounding. We can listen to Christmas music online too as per our convenience.

Probably you wonder what xMmus is. Whether it is a new singer or song? Arguably,  xMmus is a new trend in making unique Christmas music. This innovation is created from a true Master of music. His name and age are not known for the time being.

How does xMmus make his unique Christmas music and what musical instruments are used in it? These are quite interesting issues, because the music of xMmus generally do not approximates to our known traditional musical styles. But our concept about Christmas music Accustomed in a way that we want to have it to be gentle, soothing and melodic. Music of xMmus could be described as an alternative or rather high-alternative. It is a blend of different sounds – playing, vociferation, crack with the fingers and any similar. So the sounds, merge with a well-known Christmas tune (for example “Silent Night, Holy Night”), but in unfamiliar arrangement. It may be obtained something unique. It is for sure not everybody would like it. Probably for old Christians it wouldn’t be acceptable. But for sure there will be people who would like this alternative Christmas music.

XMmus has created so far two albums with Christmas songs. The first of them came out in 2009 and it is called “A Lo-Fi Christmas”, and the second has appeard recently, because of the coming Christmas holidays. Its name is “MIDI-free Christmas”. These two albums contain headings of known our Christmas songs. But behind the titles sound something quite unexpected.

The creator says he is not seeking wealth or fame, but wants to promote this kind of unique Christmas music in the world. Whether it will be able to surpass traditional Christmas sounding with these new melodies still remains mystery. Traditional Christmas songs are resistant to the time. However, xMmus has an advantage – Internet. Developments there shall be transmitted with great speed, even more when there is a possibility for everybody to listen it online and it is fully free of charge. Especially it is made by an unknown xMmus. Perhaps it may be the reason that his music becomes the single of the season. Hope, this innovative music will get its own place in this Christmas.

Unique Polynesian Tattoos, View Maori Tribal Tattoo Gallery

Maori are the indigenous inhabitants of New Zealand whose ancestors were migrants from the Eastern Polynesia between AD800 to 1300. Carrying with them to the new land was the rich Polynesian cultures as well as the unique Maori tribal tattoo arts.

Ta moko, referred to tattoos in Maori language, were traditional tattoo lines carved on the face and other parts of the body using a sharp or a serrated bone chisel from the sea bird. Although the tattooing process was extremely terrifying, painful and long, it was a sacred event. Tattooing was usually accompanied by traditional flute music performance and poems chanting in order to help the bearers eased the pain while their bodies were being chiseled with lines and curved patterns. Due to extensive pain induced by any body movement, the bearers would not be able to eat any solid food until the wounds on the face were recovered.

The ancient men usually wore Maori tribal tattoo arts on their buttocks, faces, and thighs, whereas the women would chiseled their Polynesian tattoos on their upper lips, chins, and the nostrils. Maori tattoos were visual signs that conveyed the bearers’ tribal identity, ancestry, family rank, social status and spirituality. This practice has been there for over a thousand years. In the past only the important Maori wore tattoos, and for those who did not own any ta moko tattoos were considered to have no social status.

Modern Maori tribal tattoo is becoming increasingly popular, and is a great expression of uniqueness, style and fashion. It is also a symbol of sacrifice, daring and respect due to its traditionally long and painful process of acquiring ta moko. If you choose to ink ta moko tattoos on your body, you may want to avoid using those designs that carry special attributes of the Maori tribe. The Polynesian tattoos are creative and beautiful which consist of complex curved patterns and spiral shapes. Contemporary ta moko are usually blended with Celtic tattoos to form new distinctive artworks. Ta moko arts have become one of the most important sources of tribal tattoos around the world as Maori tattoos have their own uniqueness and special characteristic among all the Polynesian tattoos.

Maori tattoos look superb to be worn on the shoulder rather than on the face like in the old days. The most popular Maori tribal tattoo designs are of the medium and large sizes, and they appear in many different colors, shapes and styles to suit the taste of all types of tattoo lovers.

Selecting the most inspiring design is important as tattoos will be with you to love forever. It is always advisable to pre-select your tattoo designs carefully before setting off to your favorite tattoo parlor. This is to prevent any last minute decision making in the tattoo parlor that may impact you for life. Investing money and time doing research on magazines, books and internet will make certain that you get the best body art option. You should make use of all available resources when searching and picking your perfect Polynesian tattoos. A Unique Mix Called Ceuta

Friday, July 30th, 2010

According to the ministry for tourism Ceuta is a multicultural European city in northern Africa. It is an open city, easy and comfortable. It is accessible to the Costa del Sol, either for a day visit or a longer weekend stay, and it offers a unique mix of culture, gastronomy and tax-free shopping.

A 40-minute journey by fast ferry from Algeciras, Ceuta is, for administrative purposes, part of Andalucia (and more specifically Cadiz) but it has special status as an autonomous city in Spain. It is surrounded on both sides by water (with the Mediterranean and Atlantic connected by what is believed to be the only navigable moat in the world) and, together with Gibraltar on the other side of the Straits, dominates the entrance to the Mediterranean – hence its strategic military importance, both historically and currently.

With one of the highest traffic densities in the world, it covers an area of 19 square kilometres plus five square kilometres rescued from the sea but this includes vast, protected, uninhabited green areas, and the 75,000 residents live in apartment blocks around the port and City centre. Agriculture and industry are almost non-existent in Ceuta and maritime and fishing traditions dominate. The city also has a strong military past. General Franco’s nationalist troops set forth for Spain from Ceuta, and many Spaniards of a certain age had to do their obligatory military service in Ceuta. With the mili now defunct, most of the military barracks are empty, and there are plans to turn the navy area into a university cornplex.

With such limited space, Ceuta has had to be creative in its urban planning. Sorne of the land redeveloped from the sea features three expansive saltwater lakes (or pools), the Parque Maritimo Mediteraneo, where residents and visitors can spend their days swimming and sunbathing (a five kilometre pipeline transports clean water from the middle of the Straits). Which brings us to the history of the city. Whenever the issue of Gibraltarian sovereignty is mentioned, those who oppose Spain’s claims to the Rock like to taunt: so what about Ceuta (and Melilla)? It is indisputable that, geographically, Ceuta is in northern Africa and is as physically close to Morocco as Gibraltar is to Spain. But after that the comparisons become irrelevant.

Over 1,500 years Ceuta was variously dorninated by the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Vandals, Visigoths and Arabs, before the Portuguese took power in 1415. When Don Sebastian died without heirs in 1581, the Portuguese crown (including Ceuta) passed to the King of Spain, Felipe II. Portugal gained its independence in 1640, but Ceuta voted in a plebiscite to stay loyal to the then Felipe IV. Ceuta subsequently suffered two centuries of war with the Arabs but Spain signed a peace treaty with the Sultan of Fez in 1860, and the Spaniards were not required to demand sovereignty over Ceuta because it had been a part of Spain even before the kingdom of Morocco existed.

Indeed, the ceutis are the only Spanish inhabitants to have chosen voluntarily to be part of the kingdom of Spain – though they stress that Ceuta is much more than sorne anachronistic outpost of Spanish colonialism. It is, they say, an attractive, modern tourist destination in Spain where visitors can discover four different worlds as they have managed to create a community in which four cultures – Christian, Hebrew, Hindu and Arab – live together in relative harmony.

What Makes Handcrafted Moroccan Tiles Unique?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Moroccan tiles are a testimony to their deep heritage and rich culture and are usually handmade or handcrafted. The practice of making handcrafted Moroccan tiles has been passed down through the ages. They are the true epitome of Moroccan culture and heritage. They showcase the different colors and designs that have influenced Moroccan design since the early days of Middle Eastern culture. Many people have loved the designs and the colors that handcrafted tiles bring to a room.

Why Are They Unique?

Handcrafted Moroccan tiles are unique because they are traditionally crafted by artisans from varied local materials. These tiles are made specifically in Morocco and wood fire is used to make them hence the natural variations in their color tone and shade. It is this aspect that makes the tiles unique even from each other.

The fact that customers are often encouraged to design their very own tiles with designs to suit their preferences. The choices of tiles are varied both in color and design. The handcrafted tiles also come in several shapes and sizes in order to make unique designs which are specific to the preference of the owner.

Zellige Tiles

Zellige tiles often come as loose tiles and some customers can make their very own Moroccan designs to suit their color preferences and tastes. Other tiles come pre-assembled and can be used to make up Moroccan inspired areas in the home. These pre-assembled tiles are also handcrafted but they already have designs of their own and they are already glazed compared to the designs your own tiles which will have to be fired up when you have decided on the design. Some stores even have a sticky paper backing where you can try out several designs. This is part of the uniqueness of handcrafted Moroccan tiles.

Some specialty stores carry tiles that are bigger in size and already have designs of their own. Some are handcrafted while others are made, with the aid of modern technology so technically, they are not quite the same because they are probably not made in Morocco nor are they handcrafted. The handcrafted Moroccan tiles are more expensive than the other Moroccan inspired tiles.

In spite of their price tags, many people still prefer handcrafted Moroccan tiles due to their authenticity and uniqueness. Many prefer to design your own tiles because they can really integrate their ideas and likes into the design. Habibi Interiors of London offer this as part of their service, before having the tiles created individualy for their clients in Fez, Morocco and flown to anywhere in the world.

Habibi Interiors are the UK leading Moroccan Tiles Specialist, more information can be found at Moroccan Tiles by Drabdesign.
