Question by Eagerlywaiting: Is there a literary work in existence that has compiled Christmas songs written by African Americans?
Is there a book, journal article, academic thesis, etc. in existence that contains a compilation of songs with a “Christmas” or “birth of Jesus” theme? If so, where might I find it?

Question by Helena: Marrakech or Agadir for Christmas?
My boyfriend and I are plannign to go to Morocco between 25/12/09 – 1/01/10 (it is our first trip to Morocco). We can only buy a package holiday and can’t decide between Agadir and Marrakech.
Can you please advise which is better around this time of year:
for weather
things to do
places to visit

Many thanks!

Answer by aznzar
Hi guys,
I guess Agadir will be much nicer for you than Marrakesh, because Agadir has a lovely weather, and every thing is closer to you there; there is a nice sandy beach up there and mountains and souks (markets), and Amazighs people (berbers) are lovely and friendly there, and there is few other town close to Agadir that you can visit such as Taghazout and Imouzzar and Tiznit and more interesting places around.
I have been in Morocco last week; it was really nice and the weather is just perfect, not too hot (30*C), I visited my town in south of Agadir, and I also spent 3 days in Agadir, it was lovely time.
Good luck any way, and if you want more information feel free to email me!

Enjoy!

African-American Christmas Decoration

African-American Christmas Decoration

African-American Christmas Decoration

There are many people who have a very traditional idea about Christmas, however few of these really realize that most of the Christmas traditions that we have come not from Bethlehem, but from Northern Europe. Everything from the snow in the manger scene to the Christmas tree actually starts in European countries, and not in the holy land. With this in mind, why should we not change Christmas when it suits us to fit our cultures and our individual styles.

This is why I have begun to collect African American Christmas Decorations. There is definitely a unique African American style which has penetrated the American mainstream as much as any other style that there is, and it seems like a shame not to celebrate it. African American Christmas Decoration not only celebrates authentic African traditions, but also the styles and contributions of generations of African Americans. Getting or making your own African American Christmas Decoration is the best way to celebrate your own heritage if you are an African American, or to celebrate tolerance and cultural diversity in America if you are not. I am not saying that you should go all out and discard all of those blown glass Christmas ornaments that you have stocked up to put all over your tree. But what I am saying is that that same tree will look all that much better with African American Christmas Decoration strung up alongside the more traditional Christmas decor.

Of course, what exactly constitutes African American decorations really varies depending who you are asking about it. Some people take African American Christmas Decoration to mean African Christmas decoration, and like to adorn their trees with charms shaped like giraffes, gazelle, and stylized masks. I do think that this has a place in African American Christmas Decoration, but I do not think that it is enough by itself. In reality, African American Christmas Decoration has so much more to offer. When I think of African American Christmas Decoration, I think of Christmas ornaments that celebrate and remember African American history. That means celebrating literature, music, education, farming, and all of the other areas in which African Americans have made a contribution to our culture, and doing it with a distinctly African American style. Of course, that is just me. The beauty about African American Christmas Decoration is that you can do it in whatever way is the most meaningful to you.

Hot Christmas Deal Callaway X-24 Irons with Callaway Golf Gloves

Hot Christmas Deal Callaway X-24 Irons with Callaway Golf Gloves

Callaway X-24 Irons + Callaway Golf Gloves

Callaway might be perceived as a “driver” company to the outside world, but since the late 1990s the firm has actually sold more irons each year than any other manufacturer. The ever-popular X-Series irons franchise (now in its seventh iteration) has a lot to do with the company’s success. Its new X-24 Hot, billed as the longest, most-accurate X-Series iron, targets all players (regardless of handicap) who seek turbocharged distance in an iron.

Callaway engineers strengthened loft in the long and mid-irons (the PW is the same as in X-22 irons), increased shaft length by 0.25 inches per club (compared to the X-22), and redesigned the head to account for new weight distribution. The X-24 Hot also boasts evolutionary updates to tried-and-true design elements, such as “variable face thickness” (VFT) technology and “precision notch weighting” in the rear. VFT produces 2.2 mph faster ball speed than the X-22 irons do, for longer, more consistent length on mis-hits. The large cavity notch spreads weight to the heel and toe, for ample head stability and improved accuracy.

Callaway developed the new Callaway X-24 Hot Irons for golfers who seek to gain distance not just with the longest clubs in their bag, but also when pulling out an iron on a long par-3 or flying the water to reach a par-5 in two. The stealth PVD Finish, which is the result of a cutting-edge process designed to reduce glare and produce a distinctive look that is darker than most irons. Callaway X-24 Hot Irons were also made with Callaway’s core technologies including S2H2, Precision Notch Weighting and Modified Tru-Bore, all working together to provide total performance for a wide range of golfers.

Should you put an LCD TV, LED TV or 3D TV on your Christmas wish list?

Should you put an LCD TV, LED TV or 3D TV on your Christmas wish list?

With the pace of technology making it pretty much impossible to own the latest anything for longer than a couple of months, it can be hard to decide whether to go all out on Christmas gadgets or to buy slightly older models and get a better deal. And so the debate between LCD TVs, LED TVs and 3D TVs is in full swing but how can you decide which one of these to put on your Christmas wish list?

LCD TVs Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) TVs came after Plasma in the timeline of television technology and they are still considered to be very much cutting edge, despite now being only the third newest technology after LED TVs and 3D TVs. LCD TVs are very popular because the technology itself means that the televisions are slimline and can be wall mounted to save space and add a touch of design to any home. When televisions were very bulky, people often opted for smaller screen sizes so that the television didn’t take over the whole room but now bigger screen sizes can be accommodated even in small rooms.

LED TVs Light Emitting Diodes (LED) TVs are based on the same technology as LCD TVs but they use hundreds of tiny lights to create increased contrast between colours, truer blacks and brighter colours, all of which mean a better picture whether you are playing video games, watching television or watching films.

3D TVs 3-Dimensional (3D) TVs are the latest in viewing technology and at the moment viewers must wear glasses in order to be able to see the three dimensional qualities which it offers. 3D TVs are so new that they are subject to discussion by both experts and consumers and no definitive conclusion has been reached as to whether they are better than previous types of television. However, they do offer something completely new and therefore exciting for customers looking to buy a new television.

So now that you know the differences between these three types of television it’s time to decide which one suits you, your lifestyle, your budget and your needs and therefore which one to put on your Christmas wish list this year. E-commerce sites often have handy comparison tools which allow you to see the specifications and special features of the LCD TVs, LED TVs and 3D TVs that you are interested in on one screen. It is also sometimes worth reading customer reviews and feedback to see what people who already own a product think of it.

Find Samsung LCD TVs, Sony LED TVs and 3D TVs online and get the latest product at the lowest price.

Best Mini Camcorder Christmas Box Choices under ?100 in 2010

As another Christmas shopping season approaches, we all turn our thoughts to buying a Christmas box for our loved ones, and of course the problem is about just what Christmas box to buy for each family member.

Over this past few years, most of us have used our mobile phones to take pictures of interesting things and sent them on to friends and family.

Nowadays however, we’ve all seen in video camera reviews how the pocket video camera gets ever smaller, while at the same time the video and photo quality has gotten so good that it seems the norm to now carry a mini camcorder or pocket camcorder as well as the mobile phone.

<!–more–>

As recently as last the Christmas shopping period, a pocket video camera was at best capable of recording in 720 HD, but this year the HD video camera manufacturers have all brought out 1920 x 1080p full HD and even refined this to record in progressive mode, which is what the tiny p stands for, where each video frame is displayed as 1 full picture rather than being made up of 2 half frames which is described as 1920 x 1080i. Sorry for going all high tech on you, but this stuff makes a big difference on how smoothly the picture looks when displayed on a TV set.

More innovations in the camcorder of today have been the enlarging of the LCD screen, and it’s even possible now to get a pocket video camera with a 3 inch screen such as you will get on the Toshiba Camileo S20 pocket camcorder.

Other innovations taken from today’s high quality full size HD video camera are: Still picture capture. Expect from 5MP to 14MP still capture capability. Zoom facility. Optical zoom is the preferred choice, sub-£100 only have digital zoom.

SD/SDHC card slot. Many mini camcorder models have internal flash memory, but you should seek a pocket cam with a card slot which will increase memory capacity dramatically.

A flash for stills and a light for video recording in dim light are included on some models of mini camcorder, and of course an HDMI digital AV output and built-in USB arm are now standard.

The HDMI output allows you to view your video on the TV at the best resolution, and the USB arm let’s you upload to the social media sites and on a good pocket video camera, re-charge the battery directly from the computer.

So hopefully you know now how to identify a worthwhile mini camcorder which will be warmly received as a Christmas box by any family member. After writing video camera reviews for so long now, I’ve identified a shortlist of 8 pocket video camera models all under £100 which any girl or boy will be proud to own, so by adding any one of these to their Christmas shopping list, you will not go wrong:

Top of my list as a Christmas box would be the Toshiba Camileo S20 pocket camcorder which as an extra bonus carries a 2 year warranty, quickly followed by the Toshiba Camileo BW10 Sportcam. Both very similar camcorders having most of the features listed above, with the Sportcam waterproof down to 2m.

Two Kodaks are next on my Christmas shopping list. The Kodak Playsport Zx3 Waterproof HD video camera and the Kodak Zi8 HD video camera both have smart face tracking technology, and the Zx3 is waterproofed to 3m.

The next choice of Christmas box would be the new Panasonic HM-TA1 pocket camcorder which has a good pedigree and is the most viewed HD video camera on my site of video camera reviews.

This is followed closely on my Christmas shopping list by the JVC PICSIO GC-FM1A mini camcorder with another good pedigree, and finally my choice of a great Christmas box would be between 2 Samsung pocket camcorders, the Samsung U10 pocket video camera with Super Slow Motion, or the Samsung HMX-U20RP/XEU mini camcorder, (what a mouthful) let’s call it the U20.

So, that’s my camcorder reviews of pocket cams, and yes, at the time of writing, every one of them is priced at under £100, but if any of these will be on your Christmas shopping list, buy early, for as you will know, all prices go up in the few weeks before Christmas.

View 19 of these camcorder models now from the UK camcorder reviews site or US camcorder reviews site and secure that bargain pocket cam for your child now before the Christmas price rise.
