The snuff film as it is commonly understood is any film that portrays the killing or the death of an individual in a very gory, violent manner that is recorded and presented in an extreme graphical and realistic manner. It is almost a fetishisation of the death if such a thing is possible. Further the scarier part of snuff film lore is that a snuff film portrays the actual death of a person and that there are no special effects used in the making of the death sequence. To put it most plainly a person is killed or dies in the making of the film and this is recorded and then distributed and shown for profit. A snuff film is different from the recording of a murder or an execution such as in documentary or news footage in that it is recorded and the  murder is carried out for the purpose of profit and the film is shown to make money.

As wild as this sounds there are more than a few films that are widely regarded in modern pop culture as such films and these can all be found with an online search of the internet. Such films along with horror books are one of the most controversial sorts of art that exists today and many directors of films that have been regarded as snuff films have been hauled before the authorities in various countries and charged with murder. Most of these directors have cleared their names successfully and all charges have been dropped. This gives a lot of credence to the opinion of many film buffs that such films are just an urban legend and that while many films have depicted extreme sexual violence and gory and realistic looking killings a true snuff film does not exist and never has.

I stayed there ages ago, in 2000, on a corporate junket from London. (Ah, the dot-com bubble…)

From what I recall, the hotel was lovely. Definitely up to European/US standards.

The pool was wonderful, and (like all foreign hotels) they do serve alcohol at the bar. Expect London prices at the bar.

It’s a bit out of town, so it’s not noisy but you will have to take transportation in.

Found a couple of reviews

1.Have just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and have very mixed feelings about the place.

We had a mini suite (room 170) and it was lovely, having a seperate sitting room and further seating area on a balcony which overlooked a small pool ( didnt go in it as it was so dirty) a bathroom so big that you could have a party in it, 2 40inch flat screen tvs, complimentary fruit basket, water and toiletries

The down side is the sheer lack of service, we had to wait upon arrival almost 3 hours because our room hadnt been serviced, the breakfast lacks variety, bread always stale, coffee always cold.

Although the hotel has 4 restaurants their menus are bland, the staff on the reception area are constantly overcharging, we were overcharged on 2 occasions for room service and bar bills and on departure having settled our final bill the previous day they tried to charge us again and became very rude and intimidating with no offer of an apology

Although the hotel is a delight to look at especially at night when it turns into a fairy tale setting with all the lanterns it lacks atmosphere being very morose and sombre.

I certainly will not be returning to Marrakech (hated it) but if you put this hotel in another city not sure if I would book again.

2.Just returned on Saturday from Marrakech after a really relaxing 5 night break at Le Jardins de La Koutoubia. The location cannot be faulted, just yards away from the square and everything that goes with it !! Our mini suite – room number 50 – was superb. This was on the ground floor and tucked away into a corner looking out on to a small patio area and only steps away from the exclusive pool for that area. The main pool is lovely, but we preferred the quiet of the pool beside the room, infact we were usually the only people in it. The terrace for the room was a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the square and furnished with a group of comfy chairs looking on to the Koutoubia minaret….no need to set your alarm for an early wake up call !!! We enjoyed the food and ate in each restaraunt – the indian on the roof terrace was excellent as was the morrocan, french and the international which we ate in twice. We also had the Hamman which was good, the spa is undergoing some work at the present which will extend it quite a bit. the pool in the spa is stunning and very relaxing. I also had a massage which again was excellent. We have now been to Marrakech twice and cannot wait to go back. All in all an excellent time was had.

Nothing can be done, Morocco has the FULL sovereignty for the the Western Sahara, we simply cannot give a large piece of land to some black nomads, The world doesn’t need any other poor countries to be emerged from nothing, The president of the ” Western Sahara” doesn’t have a magic stick to turn the land to heaven, he is just an opportunist politician, like many in my country, they only care about themselves profiting from a regime that gives the sacred state to the king and anything related to him.
what we need is a united country ruled by modernization, democracy, and justice.

Rick meets Elsa in Paris and they fall in love. The germans occupy Paris in WWII and so they plan to leave, but Elsa never shows up at the train station so Rick has to leave without her. He ends up in Casablanca, Morroco where he owns a nightclub. This is where the movie begins, the stuff before was from flashbacks. Elsa is married to a man who needs Rick’s help because the germans are chasing him. Rick doesn’t want to help him because he is jealous and angry about what happened. He finds out that Victor and Elsa were married before she met Rick, but she was told that he was killed in a concentration camp. She found out he was alive the day she was supposed to leave Paris with Rick. In the end Rick ends up helping Elsa and Victor escape the Germans and go to America where Victor can help the allies since he is a famous resistance leader. Rick stays in Casablanca and joins the war effort again.
