Jemaa el Fna – game (Morocco)
Several December evenings, my daughter of less than 2 years took me walking around Jemaa el Fna and she knows no social restraints.
Now and then I found time to make a photo, with the camera on the ground using the self-timer, trying to capture silhouetes against the lighted smoke from the barbecue stands.
(The gas lamp lighted photos turn out to be better though).
Jemaa el Fna is the central square in Marrakech recognised as the "oral patrimony of humanity" for its surviving living tradition of story telling and other performances, attracting local visitors and foreign tourists alike.
(Whether current story telling is as profound as described in former times remains to be judged by those who understand Arabic and Berber languages.)
