Cairo…the city that never sleeps.
I spent a night at Kasr El Nil area doing a feature about the bridge for a local magazine (I’ll upload them as soon as the magazine gets published). Can’t tell you how it was a great night. Kasr AL Nil is one of the oldest bridges in Cairo, it was build in 1869 and it’s still considred one of Cairo’s landmarks with its 4 bronze lion statues (each on one direction of both sides).
It has witnessed lots of events includig the University students Protest against the British occupation in the 30s where the armed forces started shooting the protestors and opened the bridge and let some of them drown, till the last protests in January against the Egyptian Police, especially on Friday january 28th.
